This is the 3rd year for our expo. which takes place on the shore of Sarasota Bay in the Van Wezel Parking Lot (1101 10th St.). It features local fire departments, EMS units, sheriff and police departments, Florida Highway Patrol, Fish & Wildlife Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard. Live demonstrations including a helicopter rescue swimmer demonstration (USCG), fire boat demonstration, children's fire fighter event, FHP roll-over car/seat belt demo., PD mounted and canine units, FWC helicopter static display, USCG fast-boat display, Mote Marine Aquarium touch tank, antique car show, games and hands-on activities for kids, food vendors and a food tent.
The expo's name "Always Ready" honors the Coast Guard motto "Semper Paratus". May 21st is also "National Armed Forces Day" and heralds the beginning of National Safe Boating Week.
