A Horse & A Ring
From the earliest days of circus as an organized entertainment, the relationship between horse and rider has been an essential element of the traveling show. Bareback acts defined the circus’ 42’ diameter ring to allow a horse to gallop at a rate that would create enough centrifugal force to allow the artist to balance on its back. From the physical demands of the bareback rider to the nuanced relationship of a dressage performance, the depiction of horse acts has always been a popular theme in circus advertising.
